I don't get it. I'm trying to remember last June 15, but I'm thinking it was the day that the San Antonio Spurs became the 2014 NBA Champions. I was thinking that was for real. Am I correct? However, more recently, that same exact team seems to have abandoned their winning ways for a pseudo team. A Rodeo Rode Trip Slip Slidin' Away before our eyes. Some of us Spurs fans are a little worried. Others say we have time. Be patient. They'll come around when it's time for playoffs. Playoffs? Many are asking questions. What's wrong with the Spurs? Why aren't they playing well? What's up with Parker?
Isn't it interesting how we want things to be the way WE want them to be? And when things aren't the way we want them to be, we begin questioning. Complaining and criticizing about a sports team or our real life issues isn't something new. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one that's done that. It's just what we do. Just listen to Sports Radio. ESPN. Facebook. It's everywhere.
I was asked in a bible study book recently to write down piercing questions I have for God. I didn't have a bit of trouble coming up with three questions that I had for God. They weren't earth shattering questions. Still, just the same, good questions for God.
Priscilla Shirer, in her bible study called Gideon, writes "There's nothing wrong with a question...unless you've already been given the answer." God, in His Word, gives us so many answers to our questions. We only need read it. When we feel that God is ignoring us, might it be the time we seek Him in His Word? For me personally, when I open the Bible, I can quickly find daily guidance, strength, hope, direction, truth, encouragement and yes, ANSWERS for my questions.
Consider Micah 6:8 which states "He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God." Or ponder Matthew 22:37 "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind..." So often, I'm asking God questions that He's already answered in His Word. I've either not read it, don't think it applies to me or don't believe what God is saying! That's not good. As you start this day, I encourage you to write down YOUR questions for God. Then consider searching for answers in His Word. You'll be amazed at what you find.
And for the Spurs? Well, I actually do have an answer. More baskets are necessary in order to win each game. See? Sometimes, the questions are not that hard. Go Spurs Go!
